The Haunted - a new tv show to scare my pants off!!

The Haunted is something truly different. I love the layout of the show...it gives the story straight from those who lived the hauntings (truly scary ones, by the way) and has the added element of the animal's perspective...very good and scary!

It is on Animal Planet...check it out!!

a Ghost Box

This is something entirely new to me...I've never heard of a Ghost Box before, but evidently you can make your own with a simple AM/FM radio. The idea is that Ghost voices are on a kind of "between the AM radio channels" frequency that we can't hear. So, if you were to go up and down the AM radio channels on the tuning button (up and down and up and down over and over again) this would be how you could hear the ghosts near you talking. I know it sounds crazy, doesn't it?! Making a Ghost Box means that the you fix the radio so the channels go up and down and up and down by itself.
I've seen some very convincing videos, though, and I would be tempted to make a ghost box, myself...sort of tempted. But because I think it is probably going to work, that makes me "deliciously scared", honestly.

Here is how to make one.

Here is a video showing one being used - not my favorite for the EVPs, though they are pretty good still, though subtle...mostly I put this on so you could see how the ghost box works:

100 Feet - A gooood ghost story

I'm a new fan of Famke Janssen...apparently she has been on plenty of movies, so will have to look her up...she played a really tough cookie (New York Italian type) in this movie, and boy she did a great job.
I LOVED the small space that the movie was set. It was all in one of those New York Brownstones...very creepy long stairways that are dark and creaky...

The ghost was scaaaaary, and in fact, there was a couple of times that I said out loud, "What the hell iiiiiiis that?!" and I was by myself in the middle of the afternoon.
I thought there was a scene that I thought was strangely bloody/overdone, compared to the rest of the movie, but otherwise I was still hiding under the blanket and saying, "Holy Crap...holy craaaaap."

I'd totally recommend it to anyone who loves a good ghost story...the ghost wasn't done like you've ever seen before, and I loved it for that...a totally new kind of ghost look that was creeeepy.

Spooky Oregon

This is a new book I just picked up! All the stories inside this book, I've read before - HOWEVER, the author (S.E. Schlosser) has actually taken the same old Oregon ghost stories and wrote them in a way so that you could actually sit around a campfire and read these! I love that. And the illustrations are so beautifully done. They are all woodcuts!

Ghost Hunters

This is one of my favorites. I LOVE the way they are all about debunking a ghost, and that they only really find a ghost maybe one time in six. That makes the haunting seem so much more believable. You can check them out here:

And watch this trailer to get an idea of the show:

What Lies Beneath

What Lies Beneath - with Harrison Ford & Michelle Pfieffer - wow! That movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. I think what was the most chilling was that the person she should have depended on the most was the bad guy!!! I couldn't believe it. I love the whole turn-around at the end. It is absolutely spine-tingling every single time I watch it!! I wish I could find more pics for the movie - there is a great one "under the lake" that creeps me out...
Even though Harrison Ford is bad in this, he is just awesome in it!

Why "Deliciously Scared"?

This is EXACTLY why I used the title "Deliciously Scared" - Anne and I are like this (she says crossing her fingers):

DIANA:Of course you would take the long route when you've sprained your ankle.
ANNE: I wouldn't think of giving Gilbert Blythe the satisfaction of helping me! Why don't we cut through here? It's much shorter.
DIANA: But you told me this forest was haunted.
ANNE: I don't think it's haunted in daylight.
DIANA: That doesn't matter; it's always dark in the forest.
ANNE: Don't be afraid, Diana.
DIANA: What kind of ghosts would you say live in here?
ANNE: I'm not sure there are any. I only imagined it was haunted because it seemed so romantic at the time.
DIANA: What is it? Did you see a ghost?
ANNE: My foot caught on something.
DIANA: Charlie Sloan said that his grandmother saw his grandfather driving the cows home last year.
ANNE: So?
DIANA: His grandfather died two years ago.
ANNE: There's supposed to be a white lady who walked along the riverbank by Mr. Hammond's sawmill, wringing her hands and wailing. The men never actually saw her.
DIANA: Oh, Anne, don't.
ANNE: Perhaps she is now accompanied by Mr. Hammond who is looking for his lunch. No, I shouldn't have said that. He may follow me here.
DIANA: Oh, Anne, I'm scared.
ANNE: So am I. Deliciously scared. Mrs. Hammond said she once felt the ghost of a murdered child creep up behind her and lay its icy fingers on her hand.
DIANA: Charlie's grandmother is a very religious woman, and I don't think she would lie. Do you think there may be ghosts living in there?
ANNE: It's alright, Diana.
DIANA: [screams]
ANNE: Stop it, Diana, and help me out!
DIANA: Why did we ever come in here, Anne? Are you alright?
ANNE: I twisted my other ankle.
DIANA: What are we going to do?
ANNE: You mustn't be afraid, Diana. I'll be alright here. Run home, find your father, and ask if he'll come back and get me.
DIANA: You'll get carried off by ghosts. I'd never forgive myself.
ANNE: Be brave, Diana. Go. I shall endure till your return, although I may be forced to faint if my imagination gets the better of me.
DIANA: I could never feel as safe as your are, Anne. Bye-bye.

And then look here at someone who loves the movie as much as me!!

Sleepy Hollow

I can't ever get enough of the right kind of scary - I'd love to share that with you here - all time favorite in my own made-up genre of "just the right kind of scary" movie - the sets and characters and costumes were just RIGHT in this one...it doesn't hurt that Johnny Depp is phenomenal in this:
